Jason coaching a client through a cat-cow spinal sequence at the IMS studio

Private movement coaching · Scripps Ranch

We find out how you move before we decide what you lift.

IMS is a one-coach studio for adults who are done guessing. Every program starts with a joint-by-joint assessment — then strength, mobility, and recovery are built around what that assessment actually finds.

Why programs stall

Loading a body that isn't ready is the most common training mistake we see.

Most people arrive having already tried harder. Harder wasn't the missing piece. Here's what we hear in the first ten minutes of an assessment.

You train through something that never quite settles

A shoulder, a hip, a knee that flares on a predictable schedule. Generic programming adds load on top of it and calls the flare-up part of the process.

The approach that worked at 30 stopped working

Same effort, less return, longer recovery. What changed isn't your discipline — it's what your body needs from a program now versus then.

You've had trainers, but never a system

Sessions that were hard but unconnected. No assessment at the front, no progression logic in the middle, no plan for what happens between sessions.

The IMS Method

Four parts, in this order, for a reason.

The sequence isn't stylistic. Each stage produces the information the next one needs — which is why we don't skip to the part with the barbell.

01ASSESS

Joint-by-joint assessment

We measure what each joint can do actively — not how far it can be pushed passively. That gap is usually where the problem lives, and it's the number we track over time.

02PREPARE

Controlled Articular Rotations

Every session opens with joint work — deliberate, slow, end-range rotation that builds control in the positions you're about to load. It's the least glamorous part of the hour and the reason the rest of it works.

03LOAD

Strength built on what you own

Progressive strength work through ranges you actually control. Selection, volume, and intensity are chosen for your assessment — not pulled from a template and scaled down.

04RECOVER

Recovery as part of the program

Adaptation happens between sessions, so we coach that window too — sleep, load management, and the Recovery Room tools you have unlimited access to as a member.

Jason worked with me through a knee issue after I'd struggled to make progress elsewhere. He identified the movement limitations holding me back and built a plan to rebuild control and confidence. Wish I had found him sooner.

IMS has played a huge role in my recovery and development as an athlete. As a D1 football player, the training I get here is on another level. Jason knows exactly what the body needs.

I had a muscle and joint issue that was affecting my daily life — sleep, exercise, everything. Jason quickly identified what was happening movement-wise and within weeks I was back to my normal routine. He is truly exceptional.

Honest answers

The five things people say before they book.

I'm too old for this

Clients here range from their twenties into their seventies and beyond. Age changes where the program starts, not whether it works. The assessment sets the starting point, and joint health comes before load regardless of the number.

I'm too out of shape to start

There's no fitness prerequisite. The free Movement Assessment is a conversation and a movement screen — no workout, no judgment, no equipment. Every program begins from wherever you actually are.

I have an old injury that keeps flaring up

That's what the joint-by-joint assessment is for. We build control where it's been lost and work around what needs protecting. IMS doesn't diagnose or treat medical conditions — if something needs a licensed healthcare provider first, we'll say so directly.

I've tried trainers before and it didn't stick

Usually because there was no assessment at the front and no progression logic in the middle. You work with the same coach every session here, and the program is revised as your assessment changes — not every twelve weeks on a calendar.

I don't have time

Two deliberate sessions a week outperform five improvised ones. Most clients train two to three times weekly. Efficiency is the reason to hire a coach in the first place.

Start here

Thirty minutes. No workout. No pressure.

The free Movement Assessment gives you a clear read on how your joints are moving right now and what a program would actually address. You leave with that either way.
